Ideas and technique to help you promote and image radio

The Hobsons voicesearch competition

Entries have now closed. Nominees will be announced in September.

At Earshot Creative we love helping new talent get into radio.

So we’re working with Hobsons on a competition which will discover and reward new voice talent.

If you win you’ll secure a twelve month artist representation contract with the leading artists agency Hobsons. That means you’ll be professionally represented for voiceover work across a huge range of media projects and platforms for a whole year.

Along the way, some of our friends across the industry will also help demonstrate what it really takes to be a top voice artist and the wide range of creative opportunities that listeners, advertisers and voice artists can enjoy from radio.

We launched the Hobsons voicesearch 2012 at the Student Radio Association conference in Bradford where talent and enthusiasm were in abundance but the winner could come from anywhere, and be of any age 16 or over. It could be you.

Entry is open until the end of 30 June 2012. That’s midnight on Saturday night.

None of this would be possible without the kind support of our industry friends. Thank you all:

Hobsons

The Hobsons artists agency has agreed to award one year’s free agency representation and a professionally-produced showreel to the winner. That’s about as close as you can get to guaranteed work in the voiceover industry. Hobsons Managing Director Donna Lampton will chair the judging panel.

The RAB

Britain’s Radio Advertising Bureau is supporting the initiative as part of its commitment to creative innovation in radio advertising. The RAB’s Head of Creative Development, Clare Bowen is one of the competition judges.

BBC

Senior producer James Stodd will test the four finalists with authentic promotional scripts that demand a strong narrative read. Can you connect with listeners through storytelling?

Reelworld

You know you’ve made it as a radio imaging voice when you get the call from Anthony Gay at Reelworld. The international production powerhouse will test the finalists’ radio imaging abilities when they voice a hot sweeper package for student radio station.

Global Radio

We’ll test your ability to really sell when you voice an ad from a genuine advertising client for Global Radio’s Head of Creative Jo McCrostie.
