Ideas and technique to help you promote and image radio

Student Radio Awards 2012 nominees

The talent of tomorrow get their first glimpse of radio success as nominations for the 2012 Student Radio Awards were announced tonight.

One category that always gets us to stand up and notice is the much anticpated Best Marketing & Station Sound. This category recognises stations with an increased awareness of on-air and off-air branding. This category is about the balance between on- and off-air station imaging and how the station communicates its image and values in order to attract and retain listeners.

Nominees for this award in 2012 are (in no particular order):

Fly FM, Nottingham Trent University

107 Spark FM, University of Sunderland

1350AM GU2 Radio, University of Surrey

Purple Radio,  University of Durham

Radio Sonar, University of Solent

URN, University of Nottingham

Click here to read a review of last years award winning entry from URN, University of Nottingham and there “it’s the kind of noise students make” campaign.

Good luck to all the stations and uni’s who’re nominated. It’s such a great initiative and can be a real stepping stone for a career in radio production and marketing.

Here at Earshot, we’re big supporters of the award and student radio in general providing assistance with awards judging, showcasing talent in the Earshot Creative Review podcast, conference session facilitation and event management support and long may this continue. We look forward to celebrating the results with students and the industry alike at The Student Radio Awards 2012 supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global Radio, at the indigo2 on Thursday 8th November.

More importantly – we’ve heard VERY good things about the awards dinner this year!
