You can order everything from a cleaner to a pizza via an app, you can find the love or your life or just simply download a voucher for the supermarket – all by the power of your mobile phone and a smartphone app. Well, now the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) has launched an iPhone app called EarApp, designed to enable advertising creatives to produce “demo” radio ads on their smartphone. Earshot takes a look:

The Aerials EarApp, which is free to download, enables creatives to easily record and time their radio scripts, add sound effects and share their ads via email from their smartphones. It has simple functionality, but does the job and helps give creatives a chance to try out new ideas and give radio a chance to shine and get on advertising plans for their clients.

The app aims to support the RAB’s monthly Aerial Awards, an initiative launched as part of the RAB’s creativity programme to recognise and reward the best of British radio advertising. The winner will receive free entry into the D&AD professional awards.

The Aerial Awards website has also been re-launched, making it easier to navigate and discover new content as well as hear details of previous Aerial Award winners.

The EarApp award also gives chance for users to check out case studies on supportive partner sites in the ‘Inspiration’ section –  including RAB, Eardrum Australia, D&D awards and the Cobra Radio Brewery.

Clare Bowen, head of creative development at RAB, said:

“Agencies often identify presenting radio scripts as a challenge. We hope that the Aerials EarApp will provide a fun way for creatives to play with their radio ideas and even demo them for pitches or presentations. The Aerials Earapp provides a fun way for teams to explore, share and engage with audio advertising ideas.”

The Aerials EarApp was developed in partnership with Eardrum Australia.

Why not download the app now , give it a whirl, and then let us know your thoughts via @earshotcreative on Twitter.
